The Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee has promulgated a decision approving the development program for the provincial capital Vinh to 2030 and vision to 2050.

The program aims to cement Vinh’s development orientations in line with general planning for the city and Nghe An province to 2030 with a vision to 2050, approved by the Prime Minister in 2015.

Under general planning for Vinh and Nghe An, the urban space in the planning area for Vinh is divided into three development regions.

The first has the current Vinh and Cua Lo town serving as the center of the north-central region in terms of economy, culture, education, and science and technology; a driving force of the province’s economic growth; and a transportation hub and an important gateway for the north-central region, the whole country, and internationally.

The second region includes Quan Hanh town and Nghi Loc district’s communes of Nghi Van, Nghi Trung, Nghi Truong, Nghi Thach, Khanh Hop, Nghi Thinh, and Nghi Long, and a section of Nghi Xa commune. The region will serve as a center for industrial activities and a transportation hub for goods, for the development of new urban areas, and as a green buffer zone that connects key areas of Vinh.

The third region accommodates part of Hung Nguyen town and Hung My, Hung Thinh, and Hung Dao communes in Hung Nguyen district. It will be the outlying area of the expanded Vinh for the development of an industrial, urban, and service area.
