1H public capital disbursement hits $9.1bln

Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province led the country with 52.81%.

More than VND215.5 trillion ($9.1 billion) in public investment capital was disbursed in the first half of 2023, equal to 30.49 per cent of the annual target set by the Prime Minister, figures from the Ministry of Finance (MoF) show.

The result is higher than in the same period of 2022, when it was 25.68 per cent.

In June alone, disbursement rose 8 per cent year-on-year, nearly double the average in previous months.

Disbursement of domestic capital during the six-month period stood at 29.13 per cent of the annual target.

Meanwhile, disbursement of foreign capital was estimated at 15.72 per cent; higher than the 8.61 per cent recorded in the same period last year.

The MoF reported that nine ministries and 23 localities recorded disbursement of over 30 per cent, with the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province recording 52.81 per cent and nearby Dong Thap 50.28 per cent and Long An 48.9 per cent.
