Vietnam posted a new record in agro-forestry-fishery export turnover in 2022, hitting over $53.2 billion, according to the General Statistics Office.
The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 9.3 per cent.
Trade in the sector was in surplus by $8.5 billion, or 30 per cent higher than in 2021.
The agricultural sector had seven groups of products posting export turnover of over $3 billion: wood and wooden products, with $10.92 billion, shrimp $4.33 billion, coffee $3.94 billion, rice $3.49 billion, fruit and vegetables $3.34 billion, rubber $3.31 billion, and cashew nuts $3.07 billion.
The total production value of the agro-forestry-fishery sector in 2022 increased 3.36 per cent against 2021, exceeding the annual target set by the government of 2.5-2.8 per cent.
One of the bright spots is the volume of seafood in the fourth quarter of the year totaling over 2.4 million tons, bringing the yearly figure to more than 9 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.7 per cent.
