Exports of animal husbandry products in 2023 as a whole are estimated to hit $430 million, according to the Department of Husbandry at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
The figure in the first eleven months of the year rose 22 per cent year-on-year to $402 million.
In particular, exports of poultry meat in the first ten months stood at over 4,000 tons, earning $10.55 million, up 250 per cent year-on-year in quantity and 315.6 per cent in value.
The animal husbandry sector targets an increase of 4-5 per cent in export value in 2024 against 2023, according to Deputy Minister of Agricultural and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien.
It is expected to make up 28-30 per cent of the country’s agricultural production.
The production of meat is to reach about 7.98 million tons in 2024, for a year-on-year increase of 3.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, the output of eggs is expected to rise 3.7 per cent year-on-year to about 19.68 billion, while milk production is projected to hit 1.28 million tons, up 6.7 per cent.
To fulfill the targets, Deputy Minister Tien asked relevant agencies to restructure the husbandry sector and effectively implement the strategy on its development in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2024.
