Vietnam had posted total trade revenue of $649.96 billion this year as of December 15, down 7.5 per cent against the same period last year, figures from the General Department of Vietnam Customs show.
Exports totaled $337.62 billion, down 5.2 per cent year-on-year.
FDI enterprises contributed $245.34 billion, accounting for 72.7 per cent.
Import value, meanwhile, reached $312.35 billion, down 9.8 per cent.
FDI enterprises imported $200.49 billion, or 64.2 per cent.
This resulted in the country posting a trade surplus of $25.27 billion in the period.
This is the eighth consecutive year that Vietnam’s trade has been in surplus.
