Vietnam has emerged as the second-largest exporter of smartphones to the United States, trailing only India, according to a recent report by global technology research firm Canalys.
In the second quarter of 2025, Vietnam's share of smartphone exports to the US rose by 6 percentage points year-on-year to reach 30%.
India claimed the top spot for the first time, accounting for 44% of all smartphones shipped into the US during the same period, according to Canalys data.
Meanwhile, China fell to the third place. Its share of smartphone exports to the US dropped sharply to 25%, down from 61% a year earlier.
Canalys analysts attributed this significant shift to Apple’s expanded production in India and efforts by smartphone manufacturers to stockpile inventory amid concerns over tariffs.
