An investment capital estimated at over VND13.7 trillion ($522 million) is required to develop the seaport system of Quang Tri province in Central Vietnam by 2030, according to a detailed development plan for the province’s port land and water areas for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050.
The plan has got approval from the Ministry of Construction.
The plan sets a cargo throughput target of from 8.8 million to 12 million tons per year by 2030. The cargo volume is expected to increase 3.6% - 4.5% annually by 2050.
Passenger traffic is projected to reach 32,000 – 34,500 people annually.
The province’s seaports are expected to have 7 wharves, comprising 10 - 15 berths. The total land use demand for this period is approximately 170 ha, while water surface is estimated at 14,741 ha.
