Vietnam’s nationwide 5G mobile network remained stable in August 2026, recording average download speeds of 437.88 Mbps and upload speeds of 118.33 Mbps, according to data from i-SPEED, a measurement platform operated by the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Among the five localities specifically measured by VNNIC, central Da Nang city continued to lead the way, with a 5G download speed of 705.53 Mbps. Meanwhile, Hanoi recorded 437.87 Mbps, southern Can Tho city 392.85 Mbps, Ho Chi Minh City 331.55 Mbps, and northern Hai Phong city 250.39 Mbps.
As a result, Da Nang’s 5G speed was nearly 2.8 times that of Hai Phong and approximately 61% higher than the national average, while Hanoi’s 5G network speed was roughly in line with the national average, and Ho Chi Minh City was around 106 Mbps lower.
According to the measurements, the overall quality of Vietnam’s mobile broadband network declined slightly in August after a series of consecutive monthly increases since April.
Mobile broadband download speeds fell from 102.61 Mbps in July to 90.68 Mbps in August. However, upload speeds remained stable at 29.3 Mbps.
At the local level, Da Nang again led with a mobile broadband speed of 290.12 Mbps, followed by Hanoi 153.45 Mbps, Can Tho 143.39 Mbps, HCM City 118.31 Mbps, and Hai Phong 82.8 Mbps.
As a result, mobile broadband speed in Da Nang was approximately 3.5 times higher than in Hai Phong. Hanoi and Can Tho also recorded speeds significantly above the national average, while Hai Phong was the only locality among the five measured to record a speed below the national average.
According to the statistics, nationwide fixed broadband speeds in August 2026 reached 263.68 Mbps for downloads and 188.13 Mbps for uploads.
Among the five localities measured, Hanoi recorded the highest fixed broadband download speed at 340.94 Mbps, followed by Da Nang at 319.3 Mbps, Ho Chi Minh City 284.12 Mbps, Can Tho 258.77 Mbps, and Hai Phong 258.4 Mbps.
Hanoi’s fixed broadband download speed was therefore approximately 29% higher than the national average.
