Aeon Vietnam has opened its AEON Van Giang General Merchandise Store and Supermarket at Vincom Mega Mall Ocean City, Hung Yen province, in northern Vietnam - the group's 11th facility in the country.
The new center boasts a floor area of over 7,550 sq.m and employs approximately 400 people. It operates on a "one-stop destination" model, catering to the daily shopping needs of local residents, including those in Hanoi's eastern area.
This opening signifies Aeon's expansion into satellite urban areas, complementing its existing system of large shopping malls in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Tezuka Daisuke, Chief Representative of Aeon Group in Vietnam and General Director of Aeon Vietnam, stated that AEON Van Giang is the group's first store to open within a Vingroup-owned shopping mall. This collaboration is expected to better leverage the resident traffic in new urban areas, while also serving young customers and families seeking convenient shopping close to home.
The Japanese group has been present in Vietnam for nearly a decade, with a total investment of approximately $1.5 billion. Aeon's ecosystem extends beyond retail, encompassing finance and services, operating 11 member companies. Currently, Aeon Vietnam ranks fourth among the largest retailers in the market, maintaining an annual growth rate of about 30%.
