Exports of certain key agricultural products posted encouraging results in the first quarter of 2023, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
Vietnam exported 1.8 million tons of rice in the first three months, earning $952 billion, up 19.3 per cent in quantity and 30.2 per cent in value year-on-year.
Almost 122,000 tons of cashew nuts worth $708 million were shipped abroad, year-on-year increases of 16.6 per cent and 14.2 per cent, respectively.
Exports of fruit and vegetables stood at $935 million, up 10.6 per cent.
Agricultural production also saw positive growth. As of mid-March, the total rice growing area for the winter-spring crop was over 2.9 million ha.
Aquaculture output in the first quarter reached nearly 1.9 million tons, a year-on-year rise of 3.8 per cent and including over 1.4 million tons of fish and 184,500 tons of shrimp.
