ASEAN customs agencies recognize mutual authorized economic operators

Trâm Anh -

Customs agencies in Vietnam and ASEAN have signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement under Authorized Economic Operator.

Vietnam Customs has signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) under Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) with customs agencies in other ASEAN countries in order to strengthen the security of supply chains and facilitate trade activities.

Under the agreement, trade facilitation measures include quick customs clearance for goods originating from or in transit to a member country, depending on the risk assessment on the level of security.

They will also provide priority inspections of goods originating from or in transit to a member country.

In case of disruption to international trade, they will give priority to process quick customs clearance for goods originating from or destined for member countries.

The customs agencies in these countries will establish a mechanism for information exchange and communications.
