The average monthly income of Vietnamese workers in 2023 stood at VND7.1 million ($295), a year-on-year increase of nearly 7 per cent, figures from the General Statistics Office (GSO) reveal.
Average monthly incomes in the fourth quarter rose across the country, with the highest growth recorded in the Red River Delta, which rose 8.2 per cent against 2022 to VND8.7 million ($362).
Workers in some cities and provinces with a large number of industrial parks also saw increases in average monthly incomes during the fourth quarter. The average in southern Dong Nai province rose 1.6 per cent to VND8.9 million ($370), and in Ho Chi Minh City by 1.9 per cent to VND9.4 million ($391).
In terms of economic sector, the average monthly income of workers in the services sector posted the highest growth in the fourth quarter, rising 7.3 per cent year-on-year to VND8.7 million ($362).
Meanwhile, average monthly incomes in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector and the industry and construction sector rose 4.2 per cent and 4.5 per cent, respectively.
