The SP-SSA International Terminal (SSIT) in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province welcomed the MSC ADONIS container vessel, from the world’s largest shipping line MSC, on July 3.
The MSC ADONIS is one of six container vessels operating along the new Shikra route that connects Vietnam with China, India, and other Asian countries.
The new route is designed to help rising demand in Asian markets.
SSIT is part of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai Port complex in the province.
Director General of SSIT, Mr. Robert Hildebrand, said the terminal secured the trust of MSC with the commencement of the new route, which will help promote trade relations between Vietnam, China, India, and elsewhere in Asia.
In March, the SSIT also welcomed the HANSA LANKA, deployed by MSC via the Bengal route, which connects Vietnam with China, South Korea, Bangladesh, and other Southeast Asian countries.
SSIT is a joint venture established in 2006 between SSA Marine in the US and two Vietnamese companies: the Vietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC) and Saigon Port.
