Bac Giang railway station to serve international freight transport

Kep train station in northern Bac Giang province is scheduled to begin offering international freight transportation services from February 20, according to the Vietnam Railways Corporation.

It will organize trains from Kep to Dong Dang station in the border province of Lang Son and then on to Pingxiang station in China.

The station includes 1,200 sq m of warehousing facilities and a loading area of over 30,000 sq m.

Kep station’s loading and unloading capacity is 80-100 carriages or containers a day. Freight includes electronics and industrial products, construction materials, industrial wood, and raw minerals.

Freight volumes in Vietnam reached 202.8 million tons in January, up 5.4 per cent month-on-month and 16.2 per cent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO). Railways accounted for 300,000 tons, down 24.8 per cent year-on-year.
