Binh Duong to develop 18,000 social housing units

Thanh Xuân -

Province needs nearly $1 billion and 290 ha for the social housing project.

Southern Binh Duong province plans to build 600,000 sq m of social housing in 2023, equivalent to 18,000 units.

It also targets building nearly 141,000 sq m of resettlement housing, or 1,000 units, to accommodate those relocated due to key transport projects.

To that end, local authorities encourage businesses and investors to invest in housing projects designed for workers at local industrial parks. They also call on potential investors to invest in new housing projects to help the province fulfil its housing targets for the 2021-2025 period.

It will need about VND23.49 trillion (nearly $1 billion) and an additional 289.11 ha for the social housing project.

The province completed the construction of 112,000 sq m of a targeted 680,000 sq m of social and resettlement housing in 2022. One of the key reasons for the poor result is that social housing projects moved at a slow pace and remained unattractive to investors.
