The People’s Committee of Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city has approved a project upgrading and expanding National Highway No.91.

Total investment capital is estimated at over VND7.23 trillion ($284 million), which will be sourced from the State and local budget.

Of the total capital, over VND5.55 trillion ($218 million) will be allocated for compensation and resettlement while the rest will be spent on construction.

The 7-km highway section running through Can Tho will be expanded to allow a maximum speed of 60 kph.

The project will help reduce traffic congestion along the highway and improve connection between Tra Noc industrial park and Can Tho airport.

It is also aimed at completing the city’s transport network to turn Can Tho into an important regional and international transportation hub.
