On April 17, AIA Life Insurance Co., Ltd (Vietnam) (AIA Vietnam) held a ceremony for CEO Wayne Besant to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister of Vietnam, for his and AIA Vietnam’s contribution to the prevention and control of Covid-19 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Mr. Besant said the philosophy of AIA Vietnam is “What is good for Vietnam is good for AIA Vietnam”. Therefore, it defines its role as making the best contribution to the Vietnamese people through its commitment to helping customers live healthier, longer, and better lives.
“AIA Vietnam and I are very proud because this is a prestigious award recognizing the contribution of AIA Vietnam during its journey of more than 23 years accompanying Vietnamese people,” he said. “I thank our customers for trusting AIA Vietnam to protect and implement financial plans for their families and themselves. Thank you to AIA Vietnam’s staff and agents for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to providing customers with the best services and products.”
Every year, AIA Vietnam carries out more than 100 community activities in many localities around the country, such as AIA Journey, “Song và May tinh cho em”, the “Vi một hanh tinh xanh” program, and supporting people in storm, flood, and drought areas, etc., with a total contribution of more than VND125 billion ($5.32 million) over the years. During the pandemic, with a desire to support authorities and communities to respond to Covid-19, as soon as the pandemic broke out, AIA Vietnam spent nearly VND80 billion ($3.41 million) on supporting frontline medical teams, customers, and agents through many practical activities.
Furthermore, the AIA Journey Program resonates significantly in the community. Officially launched in 2014, it is a series of exercises to donate bicycles and insurance policies to disadvantaged children. The program has been maintained and developed by AIA Vietnam in cooperation with the Vietnam Children’s Fund, local authorities, and the Children’s Fund of cities and provinces over the past ten years.
Nearly 23,000 bicycles and more than 700 free life insurance policies worth VND20 million ($852.2) each, which expire when the child turn 18 years old and which will help them continue their education and pursue a career, have been donated under the program to disadvantaged children in more than 50 cities and provinces nationwide.
In addition, responding enthusiastically to the Prime Minister’s call to plant a billion trees from 2021 to 2025 to protect the environment and create a “green” Vietnam, in 2021, AIA Vietnam has launched a program called “Vi mot hanh tinh xanh.” For each bicycle given to disadvantaged children around the country, AIA Vietnam will donate two trees to create forests. In 2021 and 2022, the company planted 23,000 trees in the Xuan Thuy National Park in northern Nam Dinh province, the Can Gio Protection Forest in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Ha Trung Protection Forest in north-central Thanh Hoa province. AIA Vietnam expects to continue this program for the next five years.
AIA Vietnam provides superior financial solutions to customers and wants to contribute to raising awareness and creating healthy physical and mental habits. It has been implementing a range of sporting activities to help children with physical development and create motivation to promote healthy living habits through daily activities.
In particular, the “Truong hoc Lanh manh nhat AIA” program was implemented at the end of 2022 for students from 5 to 16 years old, to equip them with the most valuable and understandable knowledge on the journey to healthy living. The program contains information and activities encouraging healthy eating, following an active lifestyle, improving physical and mental health, and creating a sustainable environment. Schools across Vietnam will also be able to share healthy living initiatives and win prizes totaling $100,000.
