Citi Vietnam organizes alumni events in Hanoi and HCMC

Nearly 100 former employees took part in events to connect with former colleagues and hear about the latest developments at Citi.

Citi recently concluded two successful alumni events in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, hosted by Vietnam Citi Country Officer Ramachandran A.S and attended by nearly 100 former employees of the bank.

The global Citi Alumni Network comprises over 30,000 former employees in more than 100 countries and territories representing over 300 companies. Citi created the alumni network to allow former employees to stay connected with their fellow alumni and the bank. Former employees can also avail themselves of certain benefits available to them when they were employees.

Through the network, Citi alumni can learn about job opportunities at the bank and non-profit events being organized by Citi. The bank shares regular updates on open positions being filled. Sixty per cent of those who joined the alumni network in 2021 signed up to receive updates on open job positions at Citi. The bank has benefitted from significant interest among alumni wanting to return to work at Citi. In 2021, it hired 4,000 of its alumni globally.

Internal referrals are also bolstered by input from the Citi alumni network. “Former Citi employees understand our organization, systems, and internal culture, so they are better able to recommend candidates who might be a good fit for an open role,” said Mr. Ramachandran A.S. “Alumni referrals carry a lot of weight. We want to stay connected with our alumni and enable them to consider opportunities to come back to Citi.”

Citi’s Vietnam alumni have not only pursued careers in financial services companies but have also established themselves as business leaders in various industries outside of the financial industry.

Citi alumni events recognize and honor the contributions of former employees who have gone on to exhibit special leadership in Network Development, Leadership & Ingenuity, or Community Investing & Development. This year, to celebrate the alumni network’s tenth anniversary, Citi added Sustainability & ESG as a new category to honor former employees who develop and implement sustainable activities and strategies in their business or community.
