The Pulp and Paper VNT19 Company in central Quang Ngai province plans to invest VND2 trillion ($83.3 million) in developing a wood material supply chain.
The plan is aimed at developing high-quality material zones, promoting sustainable forest development and ensuring material supply for the company.
Under the plan, the company will cooperate with local forest owners to grow and develop a material zone of 20,500 ha of forest in line with the province’s planning, in five years, from 2023 to 2028. It targets having a minimum of 3,000 ha of forest to gain sustainable forestry certificates.
Forest owners will receive support to plant trees, lengthen the forest trade period, and gain sustainable forest certificates. The company commits to purchasing all wood from the planted forest.
Around 3,929 ha of planted forest will be exploited each year for the production of paper and pulp, proactively supplying 30 per cent of the company’s material demand.
Many businesses currently have to import pulp paper for manufacturing paper products.
