The People’s Committee of Da Nang city in central Vietnam, in collaboration with Sun Group, held a groundbreaking ceremony on August 27 to officially launch the investment, construction, and infrastructure development project for Functional Zone No. 5 within the Da Nang Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

This marks a foundational step toward establishing Vietnam’s first-ever FTZ, Radio the Voice of Vietnam remarked.

According to the radio, Da Nang’s FTZ is the first of its kind in Vietnam, established under the Prime Minister's Decision No. 1142 dated June 13, 2025. Covering nearly 1,900 ha, the zone is divided into seven functional areas, including manufacturing, logistics, trade and services, digital technology, information technology, and innovation.

On August 26, the Da Nang People’s Committee approved the investment proposal and designated Sun Group as the investor for the commercial-service functional zone located in Area No. 5 of the FTZ, situated in Hoa Vang commune at the foot of Ba Na Mountain.

Sun Group is now the first licensed investor in the FTZ’s development chain. The company plans to build a series of unique resort complexes focused on eco-tourism, medical tourism, wellness services, and high-end accommodations. These will include luxury villas, resorts, premium entertainment facilities, duty-free shops, upscale shopping centers, and other high-class services—offering a refined, luxurious lifestyle and world-class shopping experience.
