Central Da Nang city is outlining a roadmap to boost strategic ties with European partners during 2026-2030, centering on five vital strategic sectors.
These include innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the semiconductor industry; investment, trade, logistics, and the Free Trade Zone and International Financial Center development; green transition, the circular economy, renewable energy, and maritime economy development; education, high-quality labor training, and specialized healthcare services; and sustainable tourism, heritage conservation, and people-to-people exchanges.
Among these, Da Nang has identified science, technology, innovation, AI, and semiconductors as its top strategic priorities. These sectors are expected to become powerful drivers for the city's breakthroughs. Specifically, Da Nang will collaborate with European partners to foster AI, digital technology, and innovative startups, aiming to transform the city into a leading regional innovation hub.
Regarding investment, trade, logistics, and international finance, the city aims to further develop its newly-established Free Trade Zone and Da Nang-based Vietnam International Financial Center, while strengthening business connectivity. The city seeks to attract European enterprises, investment funds, and financial institutions to participate in key projects, thereby elevating Da Nang’s position on the global economic map.
In terms of green transition and sustainable development, the city will work closely with European partners on green urban planning, renewable energy, and circular economy models. Biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation will also be prioritized to ensure a sustainable future.
For education and healthcare, the central city will partner with European educational and medical institutions to enhance the quality of human resources and healthcare services, meeting the growing needs of its population.
Finally, in culture and tourism, the city plans to organize various people-to-people exchange activities and preserve cultural heritage sites to attract international tourists and promote Da Nang's brand to the world.
Statistics show that cooperation between Da Nang and European partners yielded significant results during the 2023-2025 period. The city attracted 141 Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) projects from Europe, with a total cumulative registered capital of approximately $480 million.
Furthermore, the city has established a comprehensive partnership network with 11 localities across seven European countries. It has also expanded its reach through four major cooperation agreements with prestigious organizations, including the Swiss-Vietnamese Economic Forum (SVEF), Frankfurt Main Finance (Germany), the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (AeD), the Swiss-Asian Chamber of Commerce (Swisscham - ASIA), and Singularity Academy (Switzerland).
