The central city of Da Nang is striving to become a major socio-economic center under its master plan for 2021-2030 with a vision towards 2050, which has been approved by the government.
Under the plan, the city targets annual economic growth of 9.5-10 per cent by 2030, with agriculture, forestry, and fishery to rise 2.5-3 per cent each year, services 9.5-10 per cent, and industry and construction 10-10.5 per cent.
By 2050, the city is expected to become a major, eco-, smart. and sustainable urban area, an international tourism and convention center, a national center of high-tech, IT, and innovation, an international finance center, and a livable city of Asian standard.
To fulfill its targets, the city will focus on seven main tasks, including economic restructuring and reform of the growth model; speeding up growth in the industrial sector, especially high-tech and IT; and optimizing intrinsic forces and geographical advantages to boost services, particularly tourism, transportation and warehousing, thus becoming a national center of tourism, transportation, logistics, and seaports by 2030.
Other tasks are developing into an international financial center of regional scale; accelerating agricultural restructuring; conducting urban development planning based on international standards and the development principles for a modern city; and ensuring the effective use of natural resources and focusing on environmental protection and climate change response.
