The price of SJC-branded gold bars was kept unchanged for five consecutive days amid the fluctuations of the global gold price.

The gold bars were sold at VND80 million ($3,173) per tael on August 16, the same price compared to the past four days since the price soared by VND1.5 million ($59.5) per tael.

In the global market, the gold price stood at $2,460.4 per ounce on the same day.

At this level, gold price in Vietnam was around VND5 million ($198.3) a tael higher than world price.

Compared to the peak of the domestic gold price in early May, reaching VND92.4 million ($3,665) per tael, the price of the SJC-branded gold bars dropped by over VND12 million ($476) per tael.
