The government has approved a plan to upgrade and expand the Dung Quat Oil Refinery in central Quang Ngai province with investment of over $1.25 billion.

The move is aimed at easing pressure on the country’s petroleum supply.

Under the expansion, the processing capacity of the plant will be increased from 148,000 barrels a day to 171,000 by 2028, while its products will meet Euro V standards and environmental standards.

The expansion is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2028.

Located at the Dung Quat Economic Zone, the refinery is operated by the Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical JSC.
