Tax collections from e-commerce activities conducted by nearly 43,000 domestic individuals and businesses in the first six months of 2024 reached nearly VND10 trillion ($392 million), according to the General Department of Taxation.
The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 53.5% in value.
According to the e-commerce data platform Metric's report, the total revenue of the country’s top five e-commerce platforms in the first half of the year is estimated at VND156 trillion ($6.13 billion), up 78% year-on-year.
In the second quarter alone, the platforms, including Shopee, Lazada, Tiki, Sendo and Tiktok Shop, earned VND85 trillion ($3.33 billion), surging 78% against the same period last year.
The owners of 383 e-commerce platforms have provided information relating to businesses trading on their platforms via the portal of the tax department, as regulated, according to the General Department of Taxation.
