The Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) on August 4 officially launched the Vietnam–Singapore Terrestrial Network (VSTN), marking the first direct overland fibre-optic cable line linking the two countries.

Spanning approximately 3,900 kilometers, the VSTN traverses Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore, establishing a high-capacity data route that reduces reliance on undersea cable systems.

The network links VNPT’s technical center in central Da Nang city to key regional data hubs, including IDC Telehouse (Thailand), MY01 Cyberjaya, and Equinix JH01 Johor Bahru (Malaysia), as well as Equinix and Global Switch (Singapore).

This strategic milestone marks a turning point in Vietnam’s digital infrastructure, signaling that the country is no longer fully dependent on undersea cables.
