Foreign cross-border service providers pay $300mln in taxes

Vietnam is among the leading ASEAN countries in operating an electronic portal for foreign providers to declare and pay taxes.

Foreign cross-border service providers have paid taxes of over VND3.9 trillion ($165.8 million) so far this year via a specific portal dedicated to their business, according to the General Department of Taxation.

This brings the total amount of taxes paid by foreign providers since March 21, 2022 to more than VND7.36 trillion ($312 million).

Vietnam is one of the four leading ASEAN countries in operating an electronic portal for foreign providers to declare and pay taxes, according to Director of the Department’s Large Taxpayers Division Nguyen Bang Thang.

Tax authorities will continue to create the best possible conditions to foreign providers and domestic organizations so they can expand their operations in Vietnam.

They will apply strict sanctions and handle organizations that intentionally commit tax violations, in accordance with law, Mr. Thang said.
