The Government apparatus in the 2021-2026 tenure, after restructured and streamlined, will feature 14 ministries and three ministry-level agencies, a reduction of five; and five Government-affiliated agencies, down by three, the Vietnam News Agency quoted the Ministry of Home Affairs as reporting.

The 14 ministries are the Ministry of National Defense; the Ministry of Public Security; the Ministry of Justice; the Ministry of Industry and Trade; the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Education and Training; the Ministry of Health; the Ministry of Finance; the Ministry of Construction; the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; the Ministry of Science and Technology; the Ministry of Home Affairs; and the Ministry of Ethnic Minority and Religious Affairs.

The ministry-level agencies include the Government Office, the Government Inspectorate, and the State Bank of Vietnam, while the five Government-affiliated agencies are the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, the Vietnam Television (VTV), Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV), and the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

In addition, the reorganization will result in the reduction of all 13 general departments and equivalent organizations; 518 departments and equivalent organizations; and 2,958 sub-departments and equivalent units; together with 201 public non-business units.

Based on the proposed plan on restructuring and streamlining the Government’s organizational apparatus, the Ministry of Home Affairs requested ministries, ministry-level agencies, and government-affiliated agencies to finalize their internal restructuring, merger and consolidation schemes and submit them to the ministry by January 15.
