The government has given the green light to a Ministry of Transport proposal to upgrade National Highway No. 4B in northern Lang Son province.

Funding for the project will come from the provincial budget and the national socio-economic recovery program.

National Highway 4B connects Lang Son and Quang Ninh provinces and plays an important role in socio-economic development in the two localities as well as neighboring Cao Bang province. However, it is currently in a state of disrepair and fails to meet transportation needs while posing a high risk of traffic accidents.

The road was built in 2000 with a width of 5.5 meters.

The Ministry of Transport had proposed the government upgrade the road to facilitate the transportation of goods and boost socio-economic development in the local region while reducing traffic congestion and accidents.
