The air route connecting Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City continues to rank among the top 10 busiest domestic routes in the world, highlighting the intense travel demand and high operational frequency between Vietnam’s two largest cities, according to a report from the Vietnam News Agency.

In the first half of 2025, Noi Bai airport in Hanoi handled 16.5 million passenger movements and recorded over 100,000 takeoffs and landings.

Of this, Terminal T2—dedicated to international services—processed more than 7 million passengers, already approaching its annual design capacity of 10 million.

To address growing demand, the terminal is currently undergoing phased expansion to increase its capacity to 15 million passengers per year.

Despite increasing operational pressure, the airport maintained a 74% on-time performance (OTP) rate from June 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025.
