Starting August 1, Hanoi will pilot a virtual ticketing system for daily and weekly passes on its two urban railway lines: Line 2A (Cat Linh - Ha Dong) and Line 3.1 (Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station).

The new virtual tickets will be linked to a passenger's personal account and displayed directly on their smartphone via the "HN Traffic Ticket Card" (Thẻ vé giao thông HN) application.

To use the service, passengers can download the app, create an account, select their desired pass, and complete the payment via QR code through their banking app. The ticket is then displayed on their phone for presentation at station gates. For security, the QR code on the ticket automatically refreshes every 30 seconds and features a flashing "Tramoc" logo to verify its authenticity.

This digital system is expected to reduce printing and distribution costs while offering passengers greater convenience. It allows for easy tracking of travel history, quick registration, and provides a contactless experience.

Concurrently with the launch of the virtual ticket pilot, Hanoi will also officially implement a fare increase for its urban railway on both Line 2A and Line 3.1, effective August 1.

However, the city will continue its existing policy of providing free travel for specific groups, including individuals with meritorious service to the nation, persons with severe disabilities, and children under the age of six.
