Hanoi will prioritize sufficient resources to build infrastructure to boost socio-economic development in mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas, according to municipal authorities.

In the 2021-2025 period, the capital will earmark over VND2.1 trillion ($87 million) to implement the national target program on socio-economic development for mountainous and ethnic minority-inhabited areas.

It has so far allocated capital to 95 out of 114 projects on building infrastructure in these areas, equivalent to 83 per cent of the plan. Over VND883.5 billion ($36.8 million) has been disbursed.

Fifty-two projects have been put into operation, 15 are basically completed, and 13 others are under construction. The construction of 15 other projects is scheduled to start shortly and be completed by 2025.
