Hanoi to build 36 new markets in 2024

Thanh Xuân -

A number of large-scale markets will be built to meet socio-economic development needs.

Hanoi plans to build 36 traditional markets and upgrade 76 existing ones in 2024, according to local authorities.

Under the plan, a number of large-scale markets will be built, including a regional wholesale market on 300,000 sq m in Me Linh district, a market covering 51,000 sq m in Son Tay town and a market covering 19,600 sq m in Soc Son district.

The plan is aimed at improving the socio-economic efficiency of markets and ensuring markets operate in line with regulations on environmental protection and hygiene and safety.

The Hanoi People’s Committee has asked relevant departments and agencies and authorities in districts and communes to bolster State management over construction investment and land management tasks for markets in their area.

The People’s Committees of districts and communes are required to review land funds to allocate land to build the new markets.
