Hanoi has set a target of having about 950 enterprises in the supporting industry this year, according to the city’s Department of Industry and Trade.
Of the total, there will be about 300-350 enterprises with production lines and products of international standard and sufficient supply capacity to take part in the global production networks of multinational conglomerates in Vietnam.
The capital also set a goal of having the industrial production value of the supporting industry account for some 16-17 per cent of production value in the manufacturing and processing sector.
To fulfill these targets, city authorities will hire experts for technical consultation and assist enterprises in receiving technology transfer, conducting research and development activities, and applying management systems that meet the requirements of global supply chains.
The city also plans to hold a supporting industry expo this year with between 200 and 300 booths, attracting enterprises from Japan, Taiwan (China), Hong Kong (China), and Thailand.
