Ho Chi Minh City plans to develop Quang Trung Software Park in Thu Duc city as part of key tasks to fulfill the metropolis’s science and technology development targets.

The city has issued an action plan to implement the Government conclusion on continuously carrying out the Party Central Committee’s Resolution No. 20-NQ/TW on developing science and technology for the industrialization and modernization cause.

Under the plan, HCM City targets to become an economic locomotive by 2030, taking lead in innovation activities. The city’s digital economy is expected to contribute 40% to the GRDP. Some 40% of local businesses will have innovation activities.

By 2045, the city is envisioned to become a modern industrial city, a digital economic locomotive and a center of science and technology of Southeast Asia.

In order to fulfill the targets, the action plan sets key tasks, including building Quang Trung Software Park in Thu Duc city to develop Thu Duc into an innovative urban area; putting into operation the HCM City’s innovation center; and building a network of scientific and technological centers.

The city will also put into operation the Institute of Advanced Technology and Innovation and implement the project to build the Center for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
