Ho Chi Minh City has proposed the Ministry of Transport to build the Thu Thiem 4 bridge crossing Saigon river with an estimated investment capital of VND4.84 trillion ($191 million).

Under the proposed plan, the bridge was designed to have a length of over 2 km, six lanes, and a vertical clearance of 15 m,  allowing a maximum speed of 60 kph.

The bridge will connect Thu Duc city and district 7.

Construction of the project is expected to start in 2025 and complete in 2028.

The project, once completed, will help reduce the number of vehicles entering the inner city and traffic congestion in the south part of Ho Chi Minh City while enhancing the connectivity with the Thu Thiem New Urban Area in Thu Duc City.

Once the Thu Thiem 4 bridge project is completed, the travel time between District 7 or Nha Be District and Thu Duc City will be shortened significantly.
