Ho Chi Minh City is estimated to need 25,000-29,000 part-time and seasonal workers during the upcoming Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, according to the city’s Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs.
The trade and services sector account for 69.58 per cent of jobs, industry and construction 30.1 per cent, and agriculture, forestry and fisheries 0.32 per cent.
Demand is in industries such as accommodation and catering services, wholesale and retail sales, entertainment services, healthcare, garments and textiles, and footwear.
Available positions vary, and include production workers, sales staff, shippers, security guards, and restaurant staff.
Deputy Director of the Department Huynh Le Nhu Trang said economic growth in Vietnam and in Ho Chi Minh City over the closing months of 2023 had a positive impact on the labor market. Businesses have begun to receive more orders to meet increasing consumer demand in preparation for the new year.
Meanwhile, 49,000-57,000 positions are needed in the post-Tet period.
