Ho Chi Minh City is rapidly advancing its digital economy, aiming for its  22% contribution to the city's GRDP in 2024, rising to 25% in 2025 and ultimately reaching 40% by 2030.

The city is also prioritizing digital transformation in key sectors such as education, healthcare, tourism, and social security. This focus was highlighted at the two-day Tech4life Expo & Summit 2024 on September 12-13.

The southern city seeks to become a smart city with comprehensive digital transformation across fields such as administration, businesses, and society, among others, by 2030.

According to Mr. Vo Minh Thanh, Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, the city has identified digital transformation and smart urban development as key priorities for 2024, aligning with the National Assembly's Resolution No 98/2023, which focuses on piloting specific mechanisms and policies for Ho Chi Minh City's development.

The city is actively implementing solutions and policies to support small and medium-sized enterprises, attract high-tech activities to the high-tech park, and accelerate the development of science and technology in digital technology and semiconductor fields. Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City is exploring the establishment of a concentrated information technology zone.
