Central Hue city maintained positive economic momentum across multiple sectors during the first five months of 2026, according to a report by the municipal Department of Finance.

Investment attraction remained a key highlight. Since the beginning of the year, authorities have approved 28 new projects with total registered capital exceeding VND19.2 trillion ($735 million), including two large foreign-invested projects worth a combined $125.5 million.

Several major development projects are advancing, including Phase 2 of the Kim Long Motor Assembly Complex, a BYD battery manufacturing plant, and a series of modern urban developments along the Vo Nguyen Giap–To Huu corridor. These projects are expected to create new growth drivers for the local economy.

Industrial production also expanded steadily. The city's Industrial Production Index (IIP) rose 10.9% year-on-year, with the manufacturing and processing sector growing 13.1%. Output of key products, including beer, automobiles, cement and garments, increased, reflecting both a recovery in demand and the expansion of production capacity among local enterprises.

Tourism continued to be a major contributor to growth. Hue welcomed nearly 3.6 million visitors during the January-May period, generating an estimated VND8.3 trillion in revenue, 1.7 times higher than a year earlier. International arrivals rose 6.4%, helping boost retail sales and consumer services revenue to more than VND6.2 trillion.
