Vietnam posted total revenue of over VND544 trillion ($23.22 billion) from the retail sales of goods and services in January, up 20 per cent year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The increase was attributed to growing consumption demand during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, which increased about 8-10 per cent.
Retail sales of goods totaled VND435.4 trillion ($18.4 billion), a year-on-year rise of 18.1 per cent.
Turnover from lodging and catering services was VND56 trillion ($2.3 billion), up 37.3 per cent, and revenue from other services VND51.2 trillion ($2.16 billion).
