The Ministry of Transport held a conference on July 14 in Hanoi to announce the master planning for airport development in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, which targets increasing the total number of airports around the country to 30 by 2030.
This will include 14 international and 16 domestic airports.
Vietnam currently has 22 airports, which will increase to 33 by 2050, with three more domestic airports added, including one in the south of Hanoi - the capital’s second.
Logistics centers will also be set up around airports with cargo demand of more than 250,000 tons a year.
Investment in the development of the national airport system to 2030 is about VND420 trillion ($17.7 billion), to come from the State budget and other sources.
