Established on September 22, the Government Working Group led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh will urgently study and develop public-private partnership (PPP) projects for four airports, in the Mekong Delta’s Can Tho city and northern Son La, north-central Nghe An, and central Quang Nam provinces, and will review and add other airports to upcoming planning to 2050.
The Master Plan on the Development of the National Airport Network is to be submitted to the Appraisal Council for consideration and to the Prime Minister for approval in October.
A working group led by Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh will report on a study on converting two military airports into dual-use airports and consider investment by cities and provinces in four airports under the PPP method in the fourth quarter of this year.
The government’s action program on the development of the northern midland and mountainous region sets a target of 8-9 per cent average annual growth in the 2021-2030 period. The economic scale of the region is to reach VND2.1 quadrillion ($89.52 billion) by 2030. The program will prioritize investment in highways connecting areas within the region as well as seaports, airports, and international border gates, creating a number of growth drivers and economic centers.
