The National Press Festival 2025 officially opened at the National Convention Centre in Hanoi on June 19, marking a pivotal moment for Vietnam's media landscape as the country is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025).
Running until June 21, the event has gathered more than 80 central and local media organizations, featuring nearly 130 exhibition booths that cover the full spectrum of national life, encompassing economy, politics, culture, society, defence, security, and foreign affairs.
Media organizations are showcasing cutting-edge multi-platform journalism products that incorporate advanced technologies including artificial intelligence, 3D modeling, holographic displays, and virtual reality.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and Head of the Party Central Committee's Communications, Education, and Mass Mobilization Commission, said the festival is an opportunity to honor contributions and achievements of the media, as well as a moment for the Vietnamese press to figure out long-term development strategy amid the context of globalization and digital transformation.
He underlined the rapid development of technology that is posing opportunities and challenges for Vietnam's revolutionary press and suggested: “We must take innovation as a driving force and technology as a tool to elevate the Vietnamese press. It’s imperative to boldly innovate from within, innovate thinking in press leadership, innovate the editorial model, methods of content production and distribution, and press-public relations."
The same day, the second National Press Forum opened in Hanoi on June 19, which features 10 thematic discussions tackling critical newsroom issues.
A hub for sharing best practices, the two-day event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring.
The booth of Tap chi Kinh te Viet Nam / Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy, where many economic publications and AI application products and services are on display, has attracted so many visitors, including experts, scientists, economists, business people, and students.
