The beach city of Nha Trang in south-central Khanh Hoa province is set to expand by 800 ha under a master plan sent recently to the Ministry of Construction for appraisal.
In the latest adjustment to development planning for the city to 2040, it is to become a national and international marine tourism hub.
The project will also contribute to realizing the common development goals of Khanh Hoa province, setting new standards for work and life as well as tourism quality.
Nha Trang will be a green, clean, and sustainable urban area offering diverse tourism services and an administrative-political, economic, cultural, and scientific and technical hub of Khanh Hoa. It is also expected to become an economic, scientific and technical, educational, and healthcare center for the south-central region and the central highlands.
Regarding its development strategy, it will focus on environmental protection and climate change adaptation, the conservation and promotion of natural heritage values, and smart city development, with tourism as the main economic sector.
The city will accommodate about 640,000 people by 2030 and 780,000 by 2040.
