Many economic indicators of northern Quang Ninh province posted positive growth in the first five months of the year, according to the provincial Department of Finance.

The manufacturing and processing sector took the lead, with a significant growth of over 36.2% compared to the same period last year, demonstrating its role as a new economic driver.

As one of the country’s famous tourist destinations, Quang Ninh welcomed 8.52 million tourists in the five-month period, up 20% year-on-year.

The province registered a 14.79% increase in the total revenue of retail sales of consumer goods and services.

There were 743 new enterprises established in the province in the first five months, with a combine registered capital of over VND9 trillion ($353 million), a year-on-year surge of 12.2% in quantity and 58.9% in capital.

The figure brings the total number of enterprises operating in Quang Ninh to 11,376.

The province attracted nearly $852 million of registered FDI capital in the five-month period.
