Over 114,855 completely-built-up (CBU) cars have been imported as of September 15 this year with a total value of $2.36 billion, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
The figure represents an increase of 24.3% in volume and 9.26% % in value compared to the same period last year.
In the first half of September, 8,267 CBU cars were imported, worth $170.8 million.
Key car suppliers to Vietnam include Indonesia, Thailand and China.
By the end of August, Indonesia became the biggest supplier with 43,810 cars worth $642.24 million.
It was followed by Thailand with 39,101 cars worth $756.64 million and China with 19,649 cars worth nearly $582 million.
