Domestic investors registered over 132,000 new securities trading accounts during May, according to the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC).
Of which, 131,839 accounts were owned by individual investors and 171 others by institutional investors.
Although there was a strong recovery from April, the number of the new securities accounts in May remained lower than the figure in March, during which more than 163,000 new accounts were opened.
Also in May, foreign individual investors opened 217 new accounts, meanwhile the number of accounts owned by foreign institutional investors reduced by 7.
As of the end of May, the total number of accounts reached nearly 7.94 million, of which 7.87 million accounts belong to domestic individual investors.
