Under the master plan for the development of central Da Nang city in the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, approved by Prime Ministerial Decision No. 1287/QD-TTg, dated November 2, Da Nang will become a hi-tech and support industry center in Vietnam, where hi-tech, priority, and supporting industries will be authorized.
The Da Nang Industrial Park will be turned into An Don International Financial Street, which will serve as the core for a modern urban area and act as a new economic center of the central city.
To prepare for such a major scheme, Da Nang authorities have adopted a project moving the industrial park, where 42 enterprises are operating, from its current location in Son Tra district, which is a densely-populated peninsula with great potential for developing financial and tourism services.
Meanwhile, the city’s Hoa Khanh Industrial Park will also change its function, becoming an ecological industrial park. Three new industrial parks - Hoa Cam (second phase), Hoa Hon, and Hoa Ninh - will be built on a total area of some 880 ha and attract hi-tech industries.
Da Nang Hi-Tech Park will put its functioning sector into operation before 2025. At the same time, other industrial parks and clusters will be connected with the hi-tech park as “satellites”.
The Software Park 2 (first phase) and other similar parks will also be built, while the Concentrated Information Technology Park, the Innovation Space Project in Hoa Xuan ward, the Da Nang Bay Information Technology Park, the Viettel Da Nang Building, and the Automatic Selective Collective Center will be perfected soon.
Under the master plan, the Cam Le, Hoa Nhon, and Hoa Khanh Nam industrial clusters will be put into operation, while other clusters will be built in areas where mines are to be closed for environmental protection.
By 2030, an additional eleven industrial clusters will be built on a total of 532 ha, including the Hoa Khanh Nam cluster in Lien Chieu district, the Son Tra cluster in the district of the same name, and Hoa Lien, Hoa Lien 2, Hoa Nhon 1, Hoa Nhon 2, and Hoa Nhon 3 clusters in Hoa Vang district, among others.
By 2050, three more industrial clusters, each on an area of 75 ha, will be under construction in Hoa Vang district.
There are currently five industrial parks, a hi-tech park, and a concentrated information technology park in the central city, operating on an area totaling 2,131 ha and with occupation rate averaging nearly 88 per cent. Four of the five industrial parks are fully occupied.
It is expected that Da Nang’s manufacturing and construction sector will contribute 31-32 per cent of its GRDP by 2030, with 10-15 per cent to come from hi-tech, information technology, electronics, and communications, and be one of the three pillars in the city’s economy, as determined by Politburo Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW on orientations for the development of Da Nang city to 2030 with a vision to 2045.
