Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked relevant agencies to speed up work and ensure project quality during a visit to inspect construction progress at key transport projects in the Mekong Delta on January 30.

The projects include My Thuan 2 Bridge in Tien Giang province, the Can Tho - Hau Giang Expressway, which is a section of the eastern North-South Expressway, and a resettlement area in Cai Rang district, Can Tho city.

My Thuan 2 Bridge spans the Tien River and connects the Trung Luong - My Thuan and My Thuan - Can Tho Expressways between Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho. The project has total investment of over VND5 trillion ($213.22 million).

Construction of the 6.61-km bridge began in March 2020 and is expected to be completed in 2023. Over 70 per cent of the work has been completed.

At the construction site of the section of the eastern North-South Expressway, the Prime Minister asked relevant ministries, agencies, and localities to actively coordinate in site clearance work.

The 10.8-ha resettlement area in Cai Rang district is now home to households who moved to make room for the construction of the Can Tho - Ca Mau Expressway, which is also part of the eastern North-South Expressway.
