PM asks Hanoi to reform growth model

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has instructed Hanoi to focus its emulation movements on restructuring the economy and reforming the growth model.

Addressing a meeting on October 9 to honor role models in patriotic emulation movements and outstanding citizens from Hanoi in 2023, Prime Minister Chinh also asked the capital to take measures to turn science, technology, and innovation into a key development driver and develop culture into a new resource of development.

The government leader also guided Hanoi on the implementation of projects and speeding up the disbursement of public investment, generating jobs and ensuring social security.

He requested that the capital keep promoting patriotic emulation movements to inspire each cadre, Party member, and the people’s will, pride, and sense of responsibility towards local and national development.

Hanoi posted GRDP growth of 6.08 per cent year-on-year in the first nine months of 2023 and contributed nearly 13 per cent of the country’s total GDP.

FDI stood at nearly $2.53 billion, accounting for 12.5 per cent of all FDI in the country.
